FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michel Platini were each banned for eight years by the FIFA ethics committee on Monday, ESPN reported.

Blatter and Platini were kicked out of the sport for conflict of interest in a two million Swiss franc (approx. US$2,010,575) payment deal that is also the subject of a criminal investigation in Switzerland.

Blatter announced that he plans to appeal this ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
