European Team Chess Championship: Silver medalists Armenia return home (PHOTOS)

YEREVAN. – Team Armenia returned home in the early morning hours on Tuesday, from the 2015 European Team Chess Championship that was held in Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland.
The team members received a warm reception at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

As reported earlier, Armenian men’s national team captured second place with 13 points, after the Russians, at the 2015 European Team Chess Championship.
In addition, Armenia’s men won individual awards.

Grandmaster (GM) Hrant Melkumyan tallied 6.5 points in nine rounds and won a gold medal.
Armenia’s top ranking chess player, GM Levon Aronian, garnered 6 points and won a silver medal.
And GM Gabriel Sargissian amassed 5.5 points in eight matches and became a bronze medalist.
Armenia’s women, on the other hand, placed eleventh with 10 points.
