Youri Djorkaeff to take part in Yerevan half marathon

Former France international footballer Youri Djorkaeff, who is of Armenian origin, will participate in the Yerevan RunArm 2015—which is an international half marathon that will be held for the first time in Armenia on October 3, in the capital city of the country.

The aforesaid is noted in a statement released by the event organizers.

“Such marathons and half marathons are standing sporting events around the world, and I want it to become annual also for the Yerevan residents and Armenian people, since running is one of the first preconditions for a healthy lifestyle,” said Djorkaeff. “It is with great enthusiasm that I have accepted the invitations to participate, and together with my brother Danny Djorkaeff—Deputy Mayor of the French City of Dessin (…) —, I will be at the first rows of the half marathon, and I call on everyone to join us.”

The Yerevan RunArm half marathon will be an annual event, and its objective will be to promote the sport of running, propagate a healthy lifestyle, and develop sports tourism in Armenia.
