World No. 4 Rafael Nadal (Spain) defeated home favorite Juan Monaco (Argentina) at the final of the Argentina Open presentado por Buenos Aires Ciudad, and added a 65th overall crown in his professional career.

As a result, Nadal, 28, assumed sole possession of fifth place on the Open Era titles list, breaking a tie with Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg, Atpworldtour.com reported.

Now, solely Jimmy Connors (109), Ivan Lendl (94), Roger Federer (84), and John McEnroe (77) have won more titles than the Spanish tennis star.

In addition, Rafael Nadal has won his 46th title on clay court, thus repeating the record by Argentine legend Guillermo Vilas, 62, who was on hand to watch the aforesaid final.
