Armenia’s Aronian to compete in China

YEREVAN. – Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian will participate in the World Mind Games, which be held from December 11 to 17 in the Chinese capital city of Beijing.

The chess tournament will comprise three events: Rapid, Blitz, and Basque.

The opponents of Aronian—who is currently fifth in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions, Armenia—will be GMs Grischuk, Nepomniachtchi, Mamedyarov, Vachier-Lagrave, Ivanchuk, Dominguez Perez, Ponomariov, Radjabov, Gelfand, Leko, Bacrot, Wang Yue, Wojtaszek, Wang Hao, and Harikrishna, Armchess reported.
