NHL. Kris Letang leaves game with injury

15:21   1 March, 2012

Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang left Wednesday's game DALLAS -- Pittsburgh in the first period after he was hit behind his own net by Stars forward Eric Nystrom.

At 9:55 of the first period, Letang was reaching to play the puck as he approached the corner to the right of his own net. Nystrom appeared to hit Letang in the chest or shoulder, sending him straight to the ice. He left the game, and the Penguins announced early in the second period that he would not return due to an upper-body injury.

Nystrom was called for a roughing penalty on the play.

Letang, who had played 17 straight games since returning after a concussion, leads all Pittsburgh defensemen in goals (9), assists (22) and points (31).
