Armenia’s Chalyan and Sahakyan are crowned world champions

Team Armenia was very successful on the first day of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition at the 29th International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Military Championships that are held in New Jersey, USA.

Gevorg Sahakyan (66 kg) and Karapet Chalyan (75 kg) became world champions and brought 15 points, apiece, to the national team.

Sahakyan had come second in this tournament last year, whereas Chalyan is the 2013 World Junior Champion.

Separately, Robert Kirakosyan (59 kg) and Rafayel Aleksanyan (71 kg) won bronze medals and brought 8 points, each, to Team Armenia.

Rafayel Aleksanyan is the older brother of Artur Aleksanyan, the newly-crowned Greco-Roman wrestling world champion.
