Tashkent Open 2014: Russia’s Gasparyan starts with a win

Tennis player Margarita Gasparyan (Russia) started with a win her campaign at the qualification round of the Tashkent Open 2014, which is underway in the capital city of Uzbekistan.

Gasparyan, 20, defeated Marta Sirotkina (Russia) in one hour and 51 minutes, and with set scores of 7-6 (7-1), and 6-4.

Her next opponent will be the winner of the match between Risa Ozaki (Japan) and Ankita Raina (India).

Margarita Gasparyan is currently 224th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
