Atlético Madrid win Supercup of Spain
02:20 23 August, 2014Spanish champions Atlético Madrid won the 2014 Supercopa de España (Supercup of Spain) Spanish football championship thanks to the goal scored by club newcomer and Croatia national squad striker Mario Mandžukić. Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) winners FC Real Madrid lost to Atlético Madrid 1-0 in Friday’s return leg that was played at Atlético’s stadium.
Mandžukić netted Atlético Madrid’s game-winning goal in the second minute into the game. Atlético won the 2014 Supercopa de España on aggregate, as the first leg had ended in a 1-1 tie.
