Kazan: Andriasian to face current leader

Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Zaven Andriasian has scored 5.5 points after seven rounds at the Nezhmetdinov Memorial chess tournament in Kazan, Russia. In Round 8, Andriasian will play against current leader GM Dmitry Kokarev (Russia), who has 6.5 points so far. If the Armenian chess master defeats his opponent, he will have a good chance of winning the tournament. 

Separately, GM Vladimir Akopian has scored 4.5 points after six rounds at the open in Albena, Bulgaria. Akopian is solely half a point behind the current leaders.GMs Tigran L. Petrosian and Hovhannes Gabuzyan, on the other hand, each have 4 points, whereas FIDE Master (FM) Tigran S. Petrosyan has 3 points so far.
