Armenia sport minister meets with Olympic champion basketball player
16:00 4 June, 2014YEREVAN. – Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia Gabriel Ghazaryan received famous Lithuanian basketball player and Olympic champion Šarūnas Marčiulionis and his wife.
Ghazaryan noted that he follows the Lithuanian basketball success with great interest and admiration, and added that the Armenian ministry will implement major projects to make basketball more popular in Armenia, too.
In turn, Marčiulionis invited the minister to the Yerevan premiere of The Other Dream Team, a film about Lithuanian basketball, and the minister gladly accepted the invitation.
At the end of the meeting, Gabriel Ghazaryan presented to Šarūnas Marčiulionis the commemorative medal of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia, the ministry press service informed.
Šarūnas Marčiulionis was one of the first Europeans to become a regular in the North American National Basketball Association (NBA).
