Candidates Tournament 2014: Aronian and Svidler draw

Round 11 in the Candidates Tournament 2014, which is held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, is played on Wednesday.   

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia, and who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings—drew level with GM Peter Svidler (Russia). After the eleventh round, Aronian stands in second place, with 6 points.Former World Chess Champion, GM Viswanathan Anand (India) leads the current standings, with 7 points. Three rounds remain in the tournament. In Round 12, Levon Aronian will play against GM Vladimir Kramnik (Russia).  

The GM who wins this tournament will become the official World Chess Champion candidate, and therefore compete against reining World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), who tops the FIDE rankings, for the title of World Chess Champion.
