12:39   22 February, 2014

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Saturday announced that biathlete Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle of Germany has been excluded from the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, reports the official website of the Olympic Movement.

Sachenbacher-Stehle, 33, tested positive on Monday for methylhexaneamine (dimethylpentylamine).  As a result, the IOC had Sachenbacher-Stehle’s Olympic identity and accreditation card cancelled, and the German left Sochi on Friday. In addition, the IOC disqualified Sachenbacher-Stehle from the individual events plus from the German team’s relay event she participated in at the Winter Games.

The IOC decision, however, does not affect the medal winners because Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle and Germany had placed fourth in the aforesaid events.
