Zurich: Aronian vs. Gelfand

Armenian Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian will face GM Boris Gelfand (Israel) in Round 3 of the 2014 Zurich Chess Challenge being held in the Swiss city.    

After the initial round, Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the previous World Team Chess champions, Armenia, and is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings—has tallied 3 points and, together with reining World Chess Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway) and GM Hikaru Nakamura (USA), he shares first to third spots.    

In the first round, the Armenian GM defeated former World Chess Champion, GM Viswanathan Anand (India), and in Round 2, he played a draw with Carlsen.
