AC Milan (Italy) have confirmed the sacking of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, with immediate effect, in the wake of the club’s 4-3 loss against U.S. Sassuolo Calcio on Sunday, Goal.com reports.

This was the team’s seventh loss in the current season of the Italian Serie A.

The team—whose owner and Honorary President is former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi—is to be provisionally coached by Allegri’s assistant, Mauro Tassotti.

Milan currently sit 11th in Serie A with 22 points from 19 games.

Massimiliano Allegri, 46, took charge of Milan in the summer of 2010, and his contract with the club was to run until June 2014.
