Beijing: Aronian defeated by Karjakin

GM Levon Aronian was defeated by Russia’s Sergey Karjakin in Round 2 of the Basque system chess tournament kicked off Tuesday within the framework of the World Mind Games in Beijing.

The first game ended in a draw, while the second brought victory to the Russian player.

Aronian has 2.5 points after two rounds, while Karjakin tops the standings with 3.5 points.

The Basque system chess tournament consists of five rounds.
