“Resourceful” defender stops opponent’s attack

A funny incident occurred during the Kasımpaşa S.K.-Beşiktaş J.K. match in the Turkish Süper Lig football. A second ball entered the pitch during a Beşiktaş throw from the sideline. Kasımpaşa’s Dutch defender Ryan Donk picked up the second ball, but he did not send it to the sideline. Instead, Donk ran with the ball in his hand toward his team’s penalty area. And when a Beşiktaş player entered the area, the Dutch player hit the ball on the pitch with the ball in his hand, thus stopping the opponent’s attack. The game referee, however, showed a yellow card to the “quick-witted” defender.
