World champion Davit Safaryan recognized Armenia’s athlete for 2013

YEREVAN. – As a result of the Armenian Sports Journalists’ Federation (ASJF) survey, the top ten athletes of Armenia are determined for the year 2013.   

A total of 22 sports journalists took part in the survey, and they recognized world and European champion, World Universiade games silver medalist Davit Safaryan as Armenia’s 2013 athlete of the year.

The top ten is as follows:

1) Davit Safaryan (freestyle wrestling)

2) Artur Aleksanyan (Greco-Roman wrestling)

3) Arsen Julfalakyan (Greco-Roman wrestling)

4) Roman Amoyan (Greco-Roman wrestling)

5) Ashot Danielyan (sambo)

6) Artur Davtyan (gymnastics)

7) Aram Avagyan (boxing)

8) Maksim Manukyan (Greco-Roman wrestling)

9-10) Musa Murtazaliyev (freestyle wrestling)

9-10) Artur Shahinyan (Greco-Roman wrestling)

In addition, Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling national team, which came in third in the European Individual and Team Championships, was recognized as Armenia’s 2013 team of the year, the ASJF informs.
