Warsaw: Armenia vs. Slovenia

Fifth-round matches will be played Tuesday in the men’s competition at the European Team Chess Championship, which is held in the Polish capital city Warsaw.

In Round 5, Armenia—comprising Grandmasters Levon Aronian, Sergei Movsesian, Vladimir Akopian, Gabriel Sargissian, and Tigran Petrosian—will face Slovenia. To note, in Round 1, the Armenian men’s national team drew with Bulgaria, they defeated Montenegro and Austria in the second and third rounds, respectively, but lost to Ukraine in Round 4. Both Armenia and Slovenia have 5 points, apiece, so far in the tournament. After Round 4, France are the leaders, with 8 points.

In the women’s competition, Armenia will play against Georgia.After four rounds, the national women’s team of Armenia have 6 points, whereas Poland and Ukraine have 8 points, each, and they currently lead the tournament.
