Armenian football federation chief regrets that head coach Vardan Minsyan decided to leave the Armenian national squad.
“He has still a lot of things to do in the Armenian football, but I failed to persuade him to stay,” said Ruben Hayrapetyan, President of the Armenian Football Federation.
Hayrapetyan said he would like to continue working with Minasyan, pointing at his great potential.
As to a new coach, the talks are underway, he told reporters on Wednesday. Hayrapetyan said Minasyan advised that the national squad should have an Italian or Spanish manager.
“I held talks with Michel Der Zakarian, but he refused to accept the offer. He cannot head the squad at the moment,” the federation chief added.
“I would not like to speak about Sergio Markarian, as he had sent a written request not to comment on his ‘not coming to Armenian national’.”
