Clash between Russian and Azerbaijani football fans
16:55 15 October, 2013In the lead-up to the last group match in the 2014 World Cup football qualifier between the national squads of Azerbaijan and Russia, a minor clash occurred between the supporters of the two teams, Sport Express reports.
While walking along an Azerbaijani street, several Russian fans sang a song devoted to the Russian national squad, and the locals tried to stop the Russians.
Even though the altercation did not result in a large-scale fight, the Azerbaijanis were carrying knives.
To note, the Azerbaijan-Russia match will be played on Tuesday and the official kick off at 9pm, Armenia time.
