I want to help the team, and I will do everything not to disappoint all the people who had pinned hopes on me.

Armenian national football squad midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan stated the abovementioned during his first press conference as a player of Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.

The Armenian international started the press conference with “Dankeschön”—“thank you,” in German.

“I listened to my heart when transferring to Borussia. I want to prove that Borussia did not acquire me in vain. It will be very interesting to play in the Bundesliga, and the atmosphere at Westfalenstadion [i.e., the home stadium of Borussia Dortmund] is simply indescribable.

“[But] I would ask not to compare me with Mario Götze [who transferred from Borussia to Bayern Munich], since I only wish to help the team. [Borussia winger] Kevin Grosskreutz is helping me to adapt and he even taught me Borussia’s song,” Sky Sport reporter Stephan Schäuble quotes Mkhitaryan as saying.
