Defending his WBC Bantamweight Champion’s belt against former Armenian world boxing champion Vic Darchinyan, Shinsuke Yamanaka of Japan announced that he needs to fight stronger opponents than Darchinyan.

“Darchinyan was stronger in the starting rounds, but he was tired by Round 5. And I was much stronger than my opponent towards the end of the fight.

I was able to achieve what I had set out to do. Darchinyan has strong punches, but he never got any clean hits.

Of course he is a strong opponent, but he is not strong enough for me. I want to keep fighting strong opponents,” Boxingscene quotes Yamanaka as saying.

The WBC Bantamweight title bout between Vic Darchinyan, 36, and Shinsuke Yamanaka, 29, was held in Tokyo on Friday, and Yamanaka defeated Darchinyan on unanimous decision.
