Armenian judoists win 3 medals

YEREVAN. – The next tournaments of the European youth and junior judo cup are held in Thessaloniki, Greece, and in Tver, Russia, between Friday and Sunday. Eight athletes from Armenia are competing in the event in Greece. . On the first day, European champion (2011) and prizewinner Garik Harutyunyan (55 kg), who this time competed in the 60-kilogram category, captured a bronze medal. Yerjanik Karapetyan (52 kg) held his last bout with the representative of Great Britain, and recorded a clean victory by ippon—that is, the highest score a judoka can achieve in a fight—and likewise took third place. In the junior championship, solely Edvard Grigoryan (50 kg) has so far won a bronze medal, Judo.am reports.
