US president welcomes the Miami Heat to the White House (VIDEO)

US President Barack Obama met with the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Miami Heat at the White House to honor them for winning the 2012 NBA title.

Obama congratulated the players and, also, thanked the Heat for supporting military service members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

In addition, the US president extended his thanks to LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to “take their roles as fathers seriously.”  

James presented Obama with an autographed basketball plus a jersey signed by the Heat players, the Los Angeles Times reports.
