Italian champions Inter Milan set an unwanted historic record following a 3–4 defeat to Belgian side Club Brugge in the second round of the Champions League league phase.

This marks the first time in their history that Inter have suffered four consecutive Champions League defeats.

Prior to this, the Milan club had lost to Real Madrid (1–2) in the opening round of the current campaign, as well as to Bodo/Glimt (1–3, 1–2) in both legs of the Round of 16 last season.
