Weightlifting World Championships: Armenian national team roster
11:42 12 October, 2026The World Weightlifting Championships will be held in Ningbo, China, from October 27 to November 8, Armenia will participate with a squad of 13 weightlifters—8 men and 5 women.
The Weightlifting Federation of Armenia has announced the national team roster:
65 kg: Garnik Cholakyan
75 kg: Gor Sahakyan, Tigran Karapetyan
85 kg: Rafik Harutyunyan, Martin Poghosyan
95 kg: Davit Hovhannisyan
110 kg: Garik Karapetyan
+110 kg: Varazdat Lalayan
Head coach: Hakob Pilosyan; assistant coach: Davit Muradyan
57 kg: Aleksandra Grigoryan
77 kg: Anna Amroyan, Alina Sukiasyan
86 kg: Emma Poghosyan, Liana Gyurjyan
Head coach: Artashes Nersisyan; assistant coach: Taron Tovmasyan
An Olympic, World, and European silver medalist Gor Minasyan will compete for the Bahraini team in the men's super-heavyweight category.
Georgian athlete Lasha Talakhadze, a three-time Olympic champion and seven-time World and European champion, will participate in the World Championship following a break in his sporting career.
The World Championship will serve as a qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
