Manchester City will be expelled from the Premier League
16:02 6 October, 2026English Premier League clubs are adamant that Manchester City’s punishment for 114 alleged financial breaches over nine consecutive seasons should not be limited to a mere points deduction.
Club executives will press the Premier League to ensure that Manchester City is barred from competing in the league, at least for the upcoming season, Sky Sports reports.
The clubs are also concerned about the damage to the Premier League's reputation caused by the stance taken by Manchester City's leadership. The Manchester club denies the charges and intends to seek exoneration through an appeal.
An independent commission appointed by the English Premier League previously found Manchester City guilty of financial irregularities spanning the 2009/2010 to 2017/2018 seasons.
