Erik Piloyan: I had extra motivation

Defender for the Armenian national team and Yerevan’s Urartu Erik Piloyan commented on the 0–0 draw against Montenegro in the fourth round of the Nations League (Group C2) and the birth of his first child.

"I am very happy about both events. I had very positive emotions before the match, which likely helped me not feel any fatigue. I was overjoyed when I heard the news. I had been waiting for this for a long time; a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, which had a positive impact on my game—it gave me extra motivation. While it is true that we go into every match aiming for a win, we were facing a formidable opponent that enjoyed strong support from the fans.

We have one point; I can't say I'm sad about it, but I'm not overjoyed either, because our goal was three points, though we have what we have. I put in more work than in previous matches, that was down to the position I played. I am definitely ready to play in any position for the team. Wherever the coaches see me fitting in, I am ready to play and help the team.

The atmosphere in the national team is excellent, which was evident on the pitch. After two negative results, even higher-level teams might not have been able to bounce back this well. One of the main reasons we didn't lose is the team atmosphere," said Erik Piloyan.

The Armenian national team had previously lost 2–3 to Montenegro in Yerevan.

Montenegro leads the group with 10 points. Cyprus is in second place with 7 points. The Armenian team has earned 4 points and sits in third place.

On November 12, the Armenian national team will host Cyprus, and on November 15, they will play away against Latvia.
