Leao: I’m sure Ronaldo is happy about Portugal’s victory
14:17 2 October, 2026Portugal forward Rafael Leao commented on Ronaldo's departure from the national team following the 4–2 victory over Denmark in the third round of the Nations League.
"Ronaldo's departure doesn't concern us. We’ve proven once again that we have a good team. I’m sure Ronaldo is happy about Portugal's win.
We have a good relationship, I know what kind of person he is. The team comes first. We secured three points and are leading the group. Now we need to rest and prepare for Sunday's match against Norway.
Ronaldo is my childhood idol, and the number 7 holds special significance as it is linked to my children's birth date. I will strive to perform well wearing this number and enjoy the moment," ESPN quotes Leao as saying.
Leao's twin sons were born on October 7, 2024.
