Nations League: Armenia's team lost to Montenegro
21:49 28 September, 2026The Armenian national football team hosted Montenegro in the second round of the Nations League Group C2. The team, led by Yeghishe Melikyan, lost 2–3.
The visitors led 2–1 at halftime in the match held at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan.
In the 20th minute, an attack by the Montenegrin team resulted in a goal, the ball deflected off the back of Urartu defender Erik Piloyan, who had fallen while challenging an opponent and into the net (video).
In the 34th minute, Artur Serobyan, a forward for the Armenian champions Ararat-Armenia, restored parity (video).
In the 38th minute, Nikola Krstovic, a forward for the Italian club Atalanta, scored the Montenegrin team's second goal (video).
In the 65th minute, Eduard Spertsyan, a midfielder for the Saudi club Al-Ahli, found the net with a superb strike, leveling the score.
In the 89th minute, Aleksa Latkovic, a midfielder for the Croatian club Varazdin, scored the winning goal for Montenegro.
