Chess Olympiad: Third consecutive victory for Armenia's teams
19:12 18 September, 2026Armenia's national teams secured their third consecutive victory at the 46th World Chess Olympiad taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
In the third round, the women's team defeated the Croatian team with a score of 4–0.
Lilit Mkrtchyan, Mariam Mkrtchyan, Elina Danielian, and Susanna Gaboyan all won their matches.
The men's team defeated the Swedish team with a score of 2.5–1.5.
Grandmaster Gabriel Sargissian secured the winning point for the team.
Grandmasters Haik Martirosyan, Shant Sargsyan, and Manuel Petrosyan played to draws.
A total of 11 rounds will be played at the Olympiad.
