10:09 16 September, 2026The 39-year-old forward for MLS champions Inter Miami Lionel Messi will play his final match for the Argentina national team on October 6. This was announced by Claudio Tapia, President of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
On that day, the Argentine national team will play a friendly match against Benin at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.
Messi has made 207 appearances for the Argentina national team, scoring 125 goals and providing 68 assists; his achievements include winning the World Cup (and finishing as runner-up twice), becoming an Olympic champion, and winning the Copa America twice.
