Mourinho: I don't want to play well but lose to Inter
18:07 7 September, 2026Real Madrid’s Portuguese head coach Jose Mourinho has spoken about his expectations for the clash against Italian champions and cup winners Inter Milan. The teams will face each other in the first round of the Champions League.
In their previous Spanish league match, Real Madrid lost 0–1 to Real Betis.
"I want to win. I don't want to play well but lose to Inter. I wouldn't want a repeat of the scenario from the match against Betis.
We have eight matches to reach the Champions League play-offs. I think we will achieve that. But I would like to approach the clash with Inter in isolation, without thinking about the next seven games," Marca quotes Mourinho as saying.
The match between Real and Inter will take place in Madrid on September 8, kicking off at 23:00 Yerevan time.
Mourinho managed Inter from 2008 to 2010, winning the league title (twice), the Cup, the Super Cup, and the Champions League trophy.
