10:22 25 August, 2026"I am very happy about this silver medal. Thank God, I managed to win a medal. The Italian athlete's victory gave me even greater motivation for future competitions. Being surpassed by someone motivates you to work harder, perform better in upcoming tournaments, and ultimately win."
Hamlet Manukyan - a European silver medalist and 2025 European champion - shared these thoughts with a NEWS.am Sport correspondent at Zvartnots Airport, having returned to Yerevan with the Armenian team the previous night.
"I am very happy about this silver medal. Thank God, I managed to win a medal. We will work even harder during training so that we can achieve even better results in future tournaments.
The Italian's victory gave me greater motivation for the challenges ahead. Whenever you are outperformed, it motivates you to work harder, perform better in future tournaments, and win. Now we will prepare for the World Championship, where the main rivals will once again be Europe's top competitors. We will do everything possible to achieve high results," said Hamlet Manukyan.
At the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Zagreb, Croatia, from August 19 to 24, 18-year-old Hamlet Manukyan won the title of vice-champion in the pommel horse final with a score of 15.000 points. Armenia's second representative in this event, World and European vice-champion Mamikon Khachatryan, took the bronze medal with a score of 14.900 points.
