Champions League: Ararat-Armenia suffered a painful defeat
00:09 12 August, 2026The Armenian football champion Ararat-Armenia played away against Slovenian champions Celje in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League (semi-final) and was defeated with a score of 0:2 (video).
In the 83rd minute, 23-year-old Australian forward Yaya Dukuly opened the scoring.
In the 85th minute, 32-year-old forward Benjamin Verbic scored the second goal, sending Celje through to the qualifying play-offs.
In the first leg, Ararat-Armenia had secured a 2–1 comeback victory.
Ararat-Armenia will continue their campaign in the Europa League qualifying play-offs.
