2026 World Cup: 999 players take part in group stage

A total of 999 footballers have taken part in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being held jointly in the US, Canada, and Mexico, the FIFA press service reports.

For the first time, 48 nations participated in the group stage of the World Cup, and they played 72 matches in the three rounds.

The 2026 World Cup playoffs have begun with the Round of 32.
