2026 World Cup: Egypt defeat New Zealand, Uruguay and Cape Verde draw

Egypt defeated New Zealand 3-1 in Vancouver, Canada, in their second group match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Pyramids’ forward Mostafa Ziko, former Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, and Al Ahly midfielder Trezeguet scored Egypt's goals.

Egypt are top of Group G, with 4 points, while New Zealand are the last, with 1 point.

Separately, Uruguay played Cape Verde in Miami and drew 2-2.

Sporting Lisbon striker Maximiliano Araujo and Fluminense striker Agustin Canobbio netted the goals for Uruguay.

In Group H, Uruguay and Cape Verde are in second and third place, respectively, with 2 points apiece.
