Canada achieve their first win in World Cup history

The Canadian national team recorded their first win at the FIFA World Cup—in their third appearance.

The Canadians defeated Qatar 6-0 in Vancouver, Canada in the second round of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup.


Juventus forward Jonathan David netted a hat-trick.


Southampton forward Cyle Larin and Anderlecht midfielder Nathan Saliba also scored.


In addition, Al-Shamal midfielder Mohamed Manai scored an own goal.


Furthermore, Cultural Leonesa defender Homam Ahmed and Al-Wakrah defender Assim Madibo were sent off in the 33rd and 53rd minutes, respectively.


Canada lead Group B, with 4 points. Switzerland also have the same number of points in this group.
