Wolfsburg relegated from Bundesliga for first time

Wolfsburg have been relegated from the German Bundesliga for the first time.

They lost 1-2 in extra time in the second leg of the relegation playoffs against Paderborn 07.

Ever since first qualifying for the Bundesliga in 1997, Wolfsburg had never been relegated from Germany's top football league, and had won the Bundesliga title, German cup, and German super cup once each.

And Paderborn have been promoted to the Bundesliga for the third time, their first since 2020.
