23:41 24 February, 2026In the second leg of the Champions League knockout round play-offs, Atlético Madrid faced Club Brugge at the Metropolitano Stadium. The Madrid side secured a confident 4-1 victory, fueled by a hat-trick from Alexander Sørloth.
Norwegian forward Alexander Sørloth opened the scoring for Atlético in the 23rd minute, following a long-range assist from Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
In the 36th minute, Club Brugge leveled the score through Ecuadorian center-back Joel Ordóñez.
In the second half, the team led by Argentinian manager Diego Simeone regained the lead. American central midfielder Johnny Cardoso found the net in the 48th minute.
In the 76th minute, Alexander Sørloth secured his second goal of the match, assisted by Nigerian central forward Ademola Lookman, who had come on as a substitute.
In the 87th minute, following an assist from Italian defender Matteo Ruggeri, Alexander Sørloth completed his hat-trick.
The first leg of the knockout round play-offs had ended in a 3-3 draw.
Atlético Madrid has advanced to the Champions League Round of 16, where they will face either Liverpool or Tottenham.
