Lindsey Vonn has suffered a broken leg after falling during the women’s downhill competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics and has undergone surgery in Treviso, Italy.

The Olympic champion, two-time world champion, 41-year-old American alpine skier is in stable condition, Sky Sports reports.

Vonn was airlifted to hospital from the race track.

She had announced her retirement from professional skiing in 2019 after suffering a serious injury.

But in 2024, Vonn underwent successful knee replacement surgery and returned to professional sports.

Lindsey Vonn had suffered a torn cruciate ligament in her knee last month, but had not given up her start at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
