Men's World Boxing Championships: Armenia’s Rudolf Garboyan reaches semifinals
00:15 11 December, 2025Rudolf Garboyan has secured Armenia’s fifth medal at the IBA Men's World Boxing Championships being held in Dubai.
Garboyan fought Giovis Salfran Mejia (Cuba) in the quarterfinals of the 51kg weight category and achieved a confident 5-0 win, advancing to the semifinals.
The other Armenian participants who had reached the quarterfinals, however, were defeated.
Five boxers from Team Armenian will continue to compete for a spot in the finals.
European silver medalist Artur Bazeyan, Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medalist Hovhannes Bachkov, European silver medalist Rafayel Harutyunyan, and world silver medalist Davit Chaloyan have also secured bronze medals in their respective weight categories.
