2026 World Cup qualifiers: Armenia lose to Ireland, drop to last place in their group

Armenia were hosted by Ireland in Dublin and lost 0-1 in Matchday 4 of Group F in the European Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In the 52nd minute, Armenia were down to 10 men after captain, Slovan Bratislava forward Tigran Barseghyan, received a red card for headbutting an opponent during an argument.

Ireland converted their numerical advantage into a goal in the 70th minute, when Roma forward Evan Ferguson scored.

Armenia have dropped to last place in their group, with just 3 points, while Ireland are in third place, with 4 points.

In the other match in Group F, Portugal drew 2-2 at home against Hungary. Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice. Portugal lead this group, with 10 points, while Hungary are second, with 5 points.
