Sonic the Hedgehog to be one of mascots of 2026 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Japanese video game company Sega Corporation have signed a multi-year licensing deal, the IOC website reports.

An objective of this partnership is to combine the symbolism of video and Olympic games.

One of the main elements of this cooperation will be Sonic the blue hedgehog, the character from films and video games whose copyright belongs to Sega.

Accordingly, Sonic will be one of the mascots of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, which will be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
