Armenia national football team manager not ruling out Henrikh Mkhitaryan's return to squad
00:22 11 September, 2025Yeghishe Melikyan, manager of the Armenian national football team, will try to bring Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan back to the national squad.
"We often communicate with Mkhitaryan, I communicated [with him] today, too. Yes, I have spoken to him, and I can't say what. But I speak with hope. It seems to me I should definitely go to Italy and sit down, talk with him. I don't know his specific opinion yet. We will have dinner, we will talk. I will definitely try," Melikyan said on the air of Armenian Public Television.
In the first round of the European Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Armenia lost 0-5 to Portugal at home, but in the second round, they won 2-1 against Ireland—again at home. In the third round, Armenia will be hosted by Hungary on October 11.
