Armenia international Eduard Spertsyan: We will try to show character, achieve good result tomorrow

We all know that Portugal are one of the best national teams in the world. We will try to show character on the pitch and achieve a good result tomorrow. Eduard Spertsyan, midfielder of the Armenian national team and captain of Russian Premier League titleholders Krasnodar, stated this at Friday’s prematch press conference in Yerevan.

"We are preparing for tomorrow's important match, and I am focused on tomorrow's match.

There is a very good atmosphere in the team. We acknowledged [Armenian national squad new manager] Yeghishe Melikyan as a coach. We know that he played for the national team, but we are just working with him as a coach. He is quite demanding. We have invested maximum effort in the last five days to achieve a good result. Let's hope the same will happen in tomorrow's match.

I am in very good physical shape, and will try to help the team in this important match at all costs.

It is a great honor for me to be invited to the national team every time. When I come to Armenia, I experience inexplicable emotions.

Armenia are preparing for their match against Portugal in the first round of the European Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match will be played on Saturday in Yerevan and will start at 8pm.
