Karen Khachanov: Today was a real close one
10:15 7 August, 2025World No.16, Muscovite Armenian Karen Khachanov (Russia) commented on his 6:3, 4:6, 7:6 (7:4) win against world No.3 Alexander Zverev (Germany) in the semifinals of the men’s singles competition at the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers tournament in Toronto, Canada.
"I had to dig deep and lift my level. It was a very demanding, very mental, very physical match. So I’m very happy to get the win after losing some easy ones to him [i.e. Zverev] in recent years. Today was a real close one," Khachanov said, informs the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) website.
Khachanov had lost to Zverev in their previous three matches. Karen Khachanov will face world No.7 Ben Shelton (USA) in the final of the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers tournament.
