Armenia national football team captain: The coach should try to find another way out

Armenia national football team captain Varazdat Haroyan commented on their friendly match and the result after their 2-2 draw with Montenegro in Niksic, Montenegro.

“It was a fighting draw, I can say. I am happy that there was faith in the [Armenian] team today. I saw it myself; that is my opinion. Today there was faith, work, which is very important for our team. We can succeed only with our faith, patriotism, and work.

We had two chances [to score] at the end, we could have won, too. They had two chances, they used both.

We conceded a quick goal, there was a problem with concentration in the beginning. I repeat: the team believed [in themselves] and worked until the end.

To have the football that the new coach wants, we need time, which we do not have. What he should have learned, he should have learned from these two friendly matches. Everything is very fast, from September onwards every mistake will cost us a point. It is a matter of time, we do not have that time. The coach must consider other ideas and try to find a different way out.

I have said once that the Armenian national team with and without Henrikh Mkhitaryan are different teams. Now I will say the same about Eduard Spertsyan. He is a top football player. I am sure that he will soon get his chance and prove that he is no less than any of the top football players in the world.

Returning to today's match, we all know that a victory would have been better. We could have scored the third goal, as we were better in the last part.

The Montenegrin national team is not a bad team. After the defeat against Kosovo, a draw is a positive result. Psychologically, this was good before the qualifying campaign because we saw that we can. Before the match, I told the guys that we can achieve victory only with faith and work," said Varazdat Haroyan.

In their previous friendly match, Armenia had lost 2-5 to Kosovo.
