01:39 7 May, 2025Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan defeated last season’s Spanish La Liga runners-up Barcelona 4-3 in extra time to reach the UEFA Champions League final.
The match in the second leg of the semifinals ended in a 3-3 draw at full-time.
Inter were ahead 2-0 in the first half.
Inter and Argentina forward Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring in the 21st minute.
The Milan club’s Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty in the first minute of added time.
Barca’s Spanish defender Eric Garcia scored in the 54th minute.
Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo equalized for the Spanish club in the 60th minute.
Former Armenian national team captain and midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was in the starting lineup for Inter and was substituted in the 79th minute. He was booked in the 69th minute.
Brazilian striker Raphinha netted Barca's third goal in the 88th minute.
Milan club's Italian defender Francesco Acerbi restored parity in the third minute of added time.
And Italian midfielder Davide Frattesi put Inter ahead 4-3 in extra time. He had replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 79th minute. Frattesi scored for Inter in the 99th minute.
The first leg had ended in a 3-3 draw.
The other spot in the Champions League final will be contested Wednesday between French Ligue 1 champions PSG and last season’s English Premier League runners-up Arsenal. The Parisian club had won 1-0 in England in the first leg of their semifinal clash.
